Prior to retiring I taught Grade 7 for 20 years, and Grades 8-12 Theatre for 10 years. I studied Art Education at UBC as part of my teaching degree.
I continue to explore my artistic expression through sewing, knitting, drawing, painting, sculpting, and most recently, pottery. I took an Introduction to Clay course in high school and promised myself to one day find time to really delve into the pottery world. Many years later, in 2024, I signed up for a beginner wheel throwing class. Woo hoo! Finally the time had come.
I have been creating wheel thrown and hand built clay work in my outside home studio space since that summer. I am exploring paint on glazes, using my clay pieces as canvases, to reflect the beauty that surrounds me here in qathet.
I feel grateful living and creating on the unceded traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation.
