Lyla’s a self-taught artist with a lot of miles on her pencils and brushes.

Born and raised in Vancouver, she’s lived in Ontario, rural BC and a bit

in California, and travelled in Latin America, the US and Canada,

and some in England and Spain, checking out art galleries on every trip.

She’s had work in juried group shows in Vancouver including ‘Art Against

Racism’, ‘Artropolis’, ‘Images and Objects’, at the Unit Pitt Gallery and

a few more, including a group show at Robson Square, and another

in the downtown Vancouver Library Moat Gallery.  She’s also had

several solo shows at Basic Inquiry Center for Figurative Arts,

and at cafes including the Libra Room and the Grind.

Lyla teaches portraiture and drawing at the Skylight Studio on Marine Avenue

in Powell River and can be witnessed on occasion sketching at live music

performances around town.
