As a young child, Cindy Sutherland could often be found either reciting poetry to trees or fondling paper journals. While these impulses were subverted by the necessities of life, they have niggled their way in fits and starts throughout the years, finally finding expression in the creation of “Beautiful Wooden Books”. The idea for making wooden covered journals was born about 20 years ago when Cindy’s husband Ken made her one as a gift. Since then, working from their home on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, this husband and wife team have refined their creations. Their books are a mixture of “old world craft and contemporary charm” and pull together beautiful wood, gorgeous global papers and blank pages upon which to tell your stories in whatever form they take.
