čuxʷoθɛn PhotoCards

Anne moved to the Upper Sunshine Coast as a retiree in 2019. She has the incredible good fortune to live close to the Salish Sea with ready access to gorgeous sunrises/sunsets and ocean views. Wildlife “captures” include pods of dolphins and, living at the edge of a forest with a portal for wildlife entry into her backyard, she photographs bears and cubs, deer, and eagles and other birds. From her kayak, Anne has also captured river otters at play in ƛɛkʷanəm (Scuttle Bay).

Anne’s work does not stop at scenery and wildlife. As an avid gardener growing much of her food, she often stops to take photos of her garden. She has an eye for colour, drama, and unusual perspectives.

A recent trip south of town – through tik̓ʊk̓t (Townsite) and * (Westview) with many stops along the way to * (Saltery Bay) – was an outstandingly successful day for weather and photos.

čuxʷoθɛn is the indigenous name for Klahanie where Anne is privileged to reside on ɬaʔəmen (Tla’amin) land. She signs the back of each card and has the image title and the ʔayajuθəm place name where it was captured (if known), usually followed by its commonly known place name.

* Many ʔayajuθəm place names are difficult to locate or may be lost but Anne continues to search for and use as many as possible.
