After emigrating to Ottawa, Canada in 1971 David regularly visited the National Film Board Stills Gallery around the corner from his new home. Here he discovered the aesthetics of the fine art photographic image and its ability to excite, inform and transcend. Strongly influenced by the work of American photographer Ralph Gibson, David proceeded to explore the medium and since that time he has embraced the photographic arts, studying during the 70’s at both Ryerson and the Ontario College of Art with Barbara Astman and Noel Harding.
An early adopter of the digital camera in 2001, allowed for 10 years of in-depth experience in the digital darkroom of Photoshop.
David has also spent many years working in electronic music, video and sculpture but consistently returns to photography as his discipline of choice. He has called Powell River home since 1991.
